“It’s Summer, Summer, Summer Time…It’s Summer Time”….who doesn’t remember Will Smith’s classic summer song? Good memories. Well summer is almost here, and we all know what that means….CAMP time!
There are so many different types of summer camps to choose from. From day camps, to week long camps, to entire summer camps. There are bi-lingual camps, artistic camps, horse camps, sports camp, you name it. I did a little research, and here is what I found in and around East Chula Vista:
American Sign Language
This summer, Heidi is offering a four day camp for kids. Each day lasts from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ASL (American Sign Language) Summer Day Camp: June 17-20. Hearing Students in Kindergarten – 8th Grade. Cost: $60. Arrival at 11:00 a.m. Dismissal at 12:30 p.m. This four day camp for hearing children meets in the morning at Otay Ranch Town Center in the Food Pavilion: 2015 Birch Road, Suite 409, Chula Vista, CA 91915. At the end of the week, each camper will identify ASL as a world language and characteristics of Deaf Culture. Students will also learn some basic sign language skills and gain an understanding used by Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals. For more information, email Heidi at email@example.com.
Bricks4Kidz Summer Camp at Jump & Rock!**
Bricks4Kidz camps is a high energy, fast paced setting where kids discover, explore, invent, and create. Each day kids will enjoy various model building, LEGO® games, team challenges, and much more. Then children will be able to let loose in the extraordinary environment of JUMP and ROCK. Each day kids will enjoy approximately 2 hours of Bricks4Kidz and 1 hour of Jump & Rock.

Camp Glee Club** is on again! If your child loves to sing, dance, or perform they should be at Camp Glee Club! Campers will attend a day camp from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the week of June 17th through 21st at Montevalle Rec Center. They will get the chance to learn from different choreographers and musicians, learn stage presence, microphone technique, dance skills, and more! Ages 5 to 13, early registration is suggested. Christian Youth Theater is being held at Lutheran High School. It’s Christian Youth Theater for 5-12 year olds, they have one week in June and one week in July. They learn singing, dancing, theater and at the end of the week put on a production. It’s $200 for the week.
Sweetwater Horse Camp located in Bonita offers a variety of camps depending on the level of your cowboy or cowgirl. They offer several different camp activities… riding HORSES, grooming HORSES, riding HORSES, feeding HORSES, riding HORSES, bathing HORSES, watching HORSES, oh and of course more RIDING HORSES! Don’t just sign your child up for camp this summer; give them the adventure of a lifetime at Kid Ventures’ Summer Camp! Kid Ventures Camp makes it possible for you, the parent, to have some free-time, while your child is busy having the time of their life! Sign your child up for a day, a week, or longer—depending on YOUR needs. Our creative camp themes engage all the senses with opportunities to develop gross motor skills, improve social interaction, and explore creative play—but don’t tell the kids—they just think it’s fun! Kids can dress up like princesses and pirates while shopping in the KV market. Craft and snack are included in each day of camp. Special camp activities include: Enrichment activities, dancing, music, acting, outdoor water fun, and much more! Hours are from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm each day with a 12 child limit. Living Coast Discovery Center is offering educational fun day camps. There are several to choose from, both in the morning and in the afternoon. Tommy and some of his buddies attended these camps last year and had a blast. The hardest part is choosing which ones to sign up for.
Make Me a Pro Youth Sports Summer Camp**
Dates: June 17 – August 19
Days Monday-Friday Time 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
Fee $130 per week for full day; $75 per week for half day
Through the use of sports training and education, Make Me A Pro Sports strives to instill a positive attitude within children that carries over to every aspect of their life. We offer fun and educational sports camps and classes that are taught by successful players and coaches who are specialists in each of the sports that we offer. Our sports camp is a fun filled camp with a variety of sports during the week including, Soccer, Flag Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Cheerleading. Join for one week or the whole summer. Mon Petit Chateau Bi-Lingual Summer Camp** is full of art, music, fun, and imagination. June 10 through August 23. Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. Ages 3-7. The cost is $25 per day (snack included). Post camp care is offered until 5:30 for an additional $7. They are located at 861 Harold Place Suite #204. 619-271-7880. My Kids Clubhouse**
Join us for summer camp this entire summer! Activities include open play, arts and crafts, games, snack and tons of fun. Full day 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and half day 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. are available. Ages 2-8 years old are welcome. Campers do not need to be potty trained, but must be at least 2 years old. Check out their website and facebook page for more information and to sign up.

My Gym camps are filled with gymnastic activities, arts and crafts, and much, much more. Tommy and Jenna attend My Gym camps every year and they never grow tired going! They come home tired….but beg to go again and again! Check out their facebook page for all the latest details.
New Hope Community Church
This summer we’re offering three day camps for kids.
Upward Basketball & Cheer Camp: Tuesday-Friday, June 11-14 [$65; $75 after May 27] for kids entering Grades 1-6. Fun kids sports experience which will teach sport skills and values, allow kids to make new friends and provide equal playing time. Cheerleaders will rotate through different stations and work on cheers, routines, and crafts.
Bible Camp: Kingdom Rock! Monday-Friday, June 17-21 [$45; $55 after June 2]

Vacation Bible School at First United Methodist Church
Everywhere Fun Fair is happening from June 11 through June 14 from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Ages 4 years old (potty trained only please) through 6th grade. Cost is $25 per child before June 10 and $30 after June 10. Check out their webpage for information and registration. Tommy attended this camp last year and it was adorable. It is a Vacation Bible School and at the end of the week, the kids put on a performance for us. It was amazing what they did in a short amount of time. Call for more details, 619-482-8228.
